UW Seattle College Grad Portraits by Victoria Lemos

WOW. I am so pleased with this session. If you don't already know, nature is my absolute favorite setting to shoot portraits in. I fall in love with greens and the bright florals of spring and summer here in Washington. The beautiful colors add the perfect touch of character in portraits of all kinds.

UW Seattle campus is a favorite location of mine, so when Jennifer's mom reached out to me about taking Jennifer's college grad portraits there, I was so excited! The shoot went so well. Jennifer had the cutest outfit, and her red lip color was everything. I was having so much fun taking photos of her that I lost track of time and we ended up shooting longer than what we had scheduled!

Here are a few of my favorite shots. Make sure to book your college grad portraits ASAP!

Congrats, Jennifer!

Northwest University College Grad Portraits by Victoria Lemos

Wow, I'm a bit sad typing this blog post because the person I shot photos of became such close friends with my sister and our family as a whole. I'm so thankful though that Alyssa chose me to capture this special milestone. It's definitely an accomplishment, and although she's on her way back home to California, she has a lot to look forward to (including graduate school)!

For her graduate pictures, Alyssa wanted the Seattle city skyline incorporated somehow, so we chose the perfect boardwalk near Alki Beach, and the results are amazing! We shot during weekday morning hours, so the area was practically empty. I'm so happy with how they turned out. The red dress she styled herself in turned out to be the perfect pop of color too.

Congrats Alyssa! You will be missed, but we are proud of your accomplishments! You go girl.

Kirkland Fashion Blog Portraits by Victoria Lemos

Spring is in full swing, and I am so excited to shoot more often. This winter was pretty harsh, plus I've been busy with law school applications and preparation. My first session back was with Anna, a past client turned friend. We decided to meet up in Kirkland on a sunny afternoon and shoot two different looks that she styled herself. I was so happy with what she put together, and I could tell effort was put into styling the outfits! The colors flowed so beautifully with the settings we worked with and the resulting images are amazing. They make me so excited for warmer weather and sun! She also brought along her two friends who were great to work with as well. We all had fun walking through Kirkland and finding pretty areas to shoot in.

Here are a few of my favorite images of Anna. Find more under +Creative Portfolio > Portrait!

Kirkland Fashion Blog Portraits by Victoria Lemos

I'm trying to branch out more into the blogger world when it comes to my photography services so I took to Instagram (as always!) and searched, searched, searched, until I came across this cool girl who I thought would be perfect to collaborate with. I loved her trendy style & she seemed like such a nice person. After a few messages back & forth, Nancy & I decided to meet up in Kirkland & take pictures! These we had planned to be a mixture of blogger/fashion portraits & more creative portraits as well.

I had such a fun time. We got some amazing images & I've been practicing more with back button focus, which has been a complete game changer for me! The focus on all of these images is tack sharp (a lot I had to trash because I'm still getting the hang of lower aperture - I usually shoot at 2.8 or 2.5 but for these, I went all the way down to 1.6 on my Sigma 50 Art!).

All in all, we had an amazing time. The images are by far some of my favorites ever, the outfits she styled were perfect, & it was great meeting & befriending another fellow local creative. Take a sneak peek at some of my favorite images from the shoot here & make sure to check Nancy out over at her blog

U-District Creative Portraits by Victoria Lemos

I'm so excited about this session - I can barely contain myself! My cousin was in town for a few days, so we planned to meet up & shoot. I've wanted to shoot Veronica for a while now - she has the edgiest style, perfect for city settings in Seattle. We met up at Cafe Allegro, a grundgy coffee lounge hidden in an alleyway in U-District. After catching up over our drinks (I had the spiciest chai tea I've ever had in my life - it ACTUALLY was spicy, what the heck?!), we took a few pictures in the alleyway and then walked across the street to UW campus.

Usually, I'll always create mood boards for my creative sessions ahead of time. I always love styling my models depending on their looks, our chosen location, the setting, weather, etc. but this time I let Veronica show up with whatever she might've had on. I trust her style that much. As expected, she showed up in the coolest outfit ever; I couldn't have styled her any better myself. She had just found the leather jacket the day before at a nearby thrift shop & had her hair styled in the prettiest side braid. Her hat, glasses, & chunky boots served as perfect accessories for the entire look.

Walking through UW campus & finding cool areas to shoot in wasn't hard at all & that's why I always love shooting there. The architecture is so photogenic & you can even find some pretty greenery every few feet or so. There's a great mixture of everything, which worked excellent for what we had in mind.

While working on these images I noticed something amazing - not only am I refining my editing skills but my shots are looking more crisp, clean, & focused. I recently started experimenting with back button focus & it might just be the greatest thing I've ever decided to try. Not only that, but I finally bought a simple UV filter for my Sigma 50 lens so that definitely proved to be worth it. All in all, I couldn't be happier about this shoot. I'm so thankful Veronica & I were able to meet up & I'm glad she loves the images just as much as I do.

Discovery Park Winter Family Portraits by Victoria Lemos

Yay! I'm finally back! I took a much-needed break from booking sessions because I'm steadily preparing for graduate school. My goal has been to pursue a law degree at Seattle U Law. For a few months straight I was studying diligently for the law school admission test (LSAT) which took all of my time. I mean that literally too. I dropped everything to focus 200% on studying for this test that I really hope I did well on this second time around. The test was last weekend, so now I can finally breathe! I'm excited to jump back into my business & am ready for this Winter season & New Year.

I actually was really looking forward to the test, not only to get it over with but because I had a family session scheduled the day after. Anna had contacted me early last month and wanted to plan a small family session to gift her mom professional photos for Christmas. They were open to location suggestions & automatically I thought of Discovery Park. It's been on my list of locations for so long. I've only visited once & had never shot there before, so I thought this could be perfect. It was!

We met near the lighthouse midday on Sunday, and the session went so smoothly. The lighting, their neutral outfit coordination, their sweet, laughter-filled family dynamic. It was so easy to work with them & the shots prove it to be true! I immediately fell in love with the images & cannot wait for them to see the results.

Thank you, Anna & family. The shoot served as the perfect start to the Winter season & I look forward to working with more lovely families into the New Year.

Washington Park Arboretum High School Senior Portraits by Victoria Lemos

This is my sixth blog post this month, and I think my most jam-packed month since my business began! I'm so blessed & thankful! I started out this year with a few fashion blogger session, senior sessions, and maternity/family here and there and now I'm shooting senior sessions more than ever before. I've loved every single one so far, and I'm not just saying that! As I type this, I'm looking forward to two more shoots scheduled for tomorrow!

Blogging has been great because I've been able to use my Archive (button off to the right) and see how far I've come since last year & even the year before that. I'm happy I've stayed consistent with posting too because in a year I'll be able to look back on these sessions as well!

On Friday I had the most amazing time shooting with Lucy at the Washington Park Arboretum. Fall is definitely here, and I'm completely in love. I couldn't have been more excited about this location - I've shot here a few times during the summer season but only once in the fall so I was looking forward to capturing COLOR & we sure did. Lucy wore the cutest red dress that flowed beautifully with the background colors & foliage. We chose to shoot during golden hour as well so the sunlight was PERFECT.

Congrats Lucy! And to all the high school seniors I've been so blessed to work with so far!

Pioneer Square High School Senior Portraits by Victoria Lemos

This senior session was so much fun. Genesis knew she wanted a city look for her shots, so we discussed potential locations, and she automatically chose Pioneer Square. It's such a popular choice amongst seniors and understandably so. The cool alleyways, old brick buildings, and green vines make for the perfect edgy and urban senior session. She even let me know beforehand that she wanted a few creative shots incorporated as well when it came to editing. I love being creative with my editing and having fun so this definitely got me excited! I love when my clients are more than willing and wanting to be creative with me.

We shot at 9 am on a Sunday morning, which turned out to be perfect. Not only was the lighting bright but not harsh at all, the streets were nearly empty. We were so easily able to stop every five minutes of walking and pose in front of a building without anyone photobombing in the background. We started in Pioneer Square and then ended up in a car rental garage, which was the perfect end. Genesis changed outfits and wore a pretty pink sweater that went so well with the pretty morning colors in the city. This session was definitely a favorite of mine! Congrats Genesis!

UW Seattle Campus Portraits by Victoria Lemos

Another portrait session with Jennifer & this time we shot on the UW campus. I love this location because every time I'm here, I find new areas to shoot in. So much variety! This time we walked through the campus & looked for beautiful architecture and greenery that would complement her outfit looks.

Jennifer has become a very regular client of mine for the past few months & we are planning on working together more until the end of October. I'm so thankful for the connections I've made through my photography. Social media serves as a huge help; I don't know what I would do without Facebook, Instagram, and my website, but I also know that it's because of my unique talent that people want to work with me and will continue to do so.

I've been photographing for around six years now, and it's taken me a very long time to get to where I am today. Comparison always has (and sometimes continues) to be something that I struggle with as a content creator because photography is common; even more so in Seattle & online. I always remind myself though that people appreciate my work for a reason. It's entirely created by me only, and no one else has taken a specific image or can take the image exactly as I do.

I love what I do, and I'm even more in love that I'm able to connect with others & build relationships with people that I'd never been able to meet if it weren't for my photography. I thank God for this gift & I plan on learning more, growing more, and shooting way more until I no longer can.

In-Home Portrait Session by Victoria Lemos

In-home sessions have always been on my photography bucket list. There's something so sweet & special about capturing people in the space they call home. It's been a more popular setting for couple photography lately because the couple finds themselves to be most comfortable so the images come out to be very intimate, personable, and magical.

I'm so happy Jennifer had requested an in-home session for casual portraits in her apartment. Although these were solo portraits, the lighting and personable aspects of the images we captured were just as beautiful. Her living room area was flooded with the best lighting coming in from large windows so no additional lighting equipment was needed. All I used was my Canon 6D, my Sigma 50mm 1.4, and my Canon 35mm 1.4 for a wider angle to capture more in a smaller space.
