Seattle Rose Garden High School Senior Portraits by Victoria Lemos

I might've recently shot at the most beautiful location I've ever shot portraits at since I began my business. I've always been familiar with the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, I even visited a few times throughout my childhood, but I never knew how beautiful the rose garden nearby was. I've seen photos of it online before and always had it bookmarked at the back of mind as a potential location, but it wasn't until this past weekend that I finally shot there. My client, Alexa, had chosen the location herself. We scheduled to meet there Sunday morning, and I got there a bit earlier to scope the area since it was my first time there. I was immediately so pleasantly surprised. The garden is very spacious and filled with all different kinds of roses; every color you could think of.

Once Alexa arrived, we went over the different outfits she brought with her and discussed how we could incorporate specific areas of the garden for individual looks. We started shooting right away, and after a few minutes, I was already incredibly in love with the photos we were creating. I'm so happy Alexa chose this location so I could familiarize myself with it and create portraits with beautiful roses before fall grabs hold of nature here in the PNW. I will definitely be shooting here more often. Congrats Alexa!

Downtown Seattle High School Senior Portraits by Victoria Lemos

My second post in one day but I have a good reason for it! I'm trying to get as many completed sessions up for August before September begins in a few hours. I'm so happy with how amazing this summer was for me & my small business. I got to work with so many amazing people. I look back on this summer & realize I was able to not only branch my business more into shooting college grads, but I also had the time to shoot creatively, which is always good in order to keep a healthy balance. I'm looking forward to fall/winter and what these upcoming seasons have in store for me.

This particular session was awesome. Linh lives in Kennewick but wanted to get her senior portraits taken in the heart of Seattle, downtown. She and her family drove 4 hours to meet me near Pike, and from there, we hit three different locations: a cool building rooftop, Pike Place market, and the Great Wheel waterfront. She also brought along a wide range of outfits to play with, which gave each setting we shot in, a distinct look. Linh was giving me more creative/fashion oriented poses & I loved working with her for that! The session was quite long but we created some good stuff & she was happy with the results.

These images were shot with my new Sigma 50mm 1.4, which I am very much in love already & I'm so excited to use it even more for my upcoming shoots this fall.

Green Lake High School Senior Portraits by Victoria Lemos

The end of August is here, and that means fall is just around the corner - my favorite time of year. Fortunately, I was able to schedule a few end-of-summer high school senior sessions, and this one is my most recent! Sarah contacted me about getting her senior portraits taken and needed help deciding on the location. After listing a few personal recommendations, she decided on Green Lake Park in Seattle because of the childhood memories she made there before moving out of the city. Green Lake was a park she visited frequently, and she wanted a mixture of green and lake settings for her portraits. I couldn't be happier with her decision because Green Lake is one of my favorite parks to shoot at! I'm beyond excited with how the photos turned out & I'm happy Sarah likes them as well.

Also, these pictures were taken with my new Sigma 50mm 1.4 lens. I've been eyeing this lens (and the Canon 50mm 1.2) for many months and finally decided to take the plunge! Maybe I'll post a review on it...

Northwest University College Grad Portraits by Victoria Lemos

So I have a sister. I have two younger sisters actually. One of them graduated college the same time as me because she chose running start in high school, which carried her over to my graduating class. The cool thing about this is that we just celebrated with a conjoined grad party & I got to take her college grad portraits!

It's funny; actually, my sister Nicole was my very first subject and model. I first began experimenting with photography in high school, and I remember us both getting creative during free time at home - we'd style her outfit for the shoot and take photos in the backyard. Back then I just wanted to practice for fun! I never thought I'd end up shooting portraits as a job. She modeled for me so many times that I got accustomed to knowing her "good angles" & was able to boss her around to the extreme to get the best shot. Because of this, I gained a set of skills that allowed me to venture onward, photographing other subjects, and eventually choosing to build portfolios that would display my portrait work for others to see.

We don't really shoot creatively like we used to (she won't let me boss her around anymore) but special occasions are the exception. For this shoot, we both knew white would be prettiest especially during late spring time. We drove to her campus in Kirkland and found gorgeous cherry blossom trees near the front parking lot. After about 10 minutes there, we drove 5 minutes away to Heritage Hall - one of my favorite locations because there is a lovely old white building used for weddings that is incredibly photogenic.

Oh, and did I mention? Nicole will be pursuing a doctorate in psychology this coming fall, and I couldn't be more excited about it. A doctor in our family. Amazing. Congratulations Nicole!

I'm so happy Alyssa was able to join our shoot as well. She was there for moral support & extra laughs. Nicole & Alyssa actually met during their first week at NU and have remained best friends (even roommates) ever since!

High School Grad Portraits by Victoria Lemos

My first high school grad portrait session this season and it couldn't have started off anymore beautifully. Shayla knew she wanted her pictures to be taken at Juanita Bay Park and it is one of my favorite locations to shoot at. I haven't shot there since last summer with another high school senior client so I was excited to go back. The flourishing greens and the old wooden boardwalk were exactly as I remembered.

I love when my clients have fun with their sessions and bring along props too. Props always add something a bit more personalized to the session and the images turn out so much better! Shayla brought along two huge gold balloons that looked gorgeous with all of the surrounding greens and her crisp white dress.

Congrats Shayla!

UW Seattle Grad Portraits by Victoria Lemos

Okay, so middle schoolers these days are way cooler than I remember. Alissandro captured this transitional milestone from middle school to high school and at no better location than the UW Seattle campus. Can't wait to see him studying here someday in the future!

I always love shooting at the UW Seattle campus because it's so huge, spacious, and the architecture is gorgeous. Every time I shoot here I find new little areas to shoot my subject in front of. I spotted a nice wooden bench on my walk to find Alissandro and made note of it so that we could take some portraits there. This was my first time working with a middle school graduate and I'm so happy with the results! The greens and browns go so nicely with his gray suit and leather brown shoes. Alissandro was so easy to work with and really knew his angles.

Congrats Alissandro!

Seattle Waterfront Prom Portraits by Victoria Lemos

Wow, wow, wow. I just love when my clients are absolute naturals in front of the camera. I especially love when I'm shooting a couple who share such natural chemistry as well. This prom session with Micaiah and her date were nothing short of breathtaking. We shot around 3 pm, which isn't the best for lighting, so I was prepared to have to work a little extra. The light ended up being so easy to work with though; the passing clouds helped a lot.

We shot at the Seattle Great Wheel & walked along the waterfront. It was extremely packed, but somehow we were able to maneuver our way through the crowds and capture some stunning images. They have such a cute sense of humor as well; I couldn't help but shoot a few extras.

Another college grad portrait session and I'm not complaining. This was a few days ago during 78-degree weather in Seattle! Summer has arrived early it seems, so I'm trying to take advantage of the sun with no time to waste.

I've worked with Anna more than a few times already so I was excited to see her again and shoot her grad portraits. We walked through the campus and found the prettiest backdrops to shoot in front of. Her dress and shoes were also a plus; they worked so well with the colors around us! I'm really happy with how these images turned out all around. Congrats Anna!

Yay for quick editing! Yesterday morning I had a college grad session at SPU with Aerielle and I just now sent them off. I already received feedback from her, and I'm so happy she loves them just as much as I do!

Aerielle contacted me not even a week ago, and since I had availability Sunday morning, we were able to book her session with no time to waste. She's graduating from SPU in a few weeks, so we decided to shoot the portraits on campus. This was my first time on the campus, and it was beautiful! We mainly shot in a spacious courtyard filled with lots of green trees and cement steps. The weather in Seattle this week has been surprisingly sunny and even warm, so the lighting was perfect!

Congrats, Aerielle!
