Kirkland Fashion Blog Portraits by Victoria Lemos

Spring is in full swing, and I am so excited to shoot more often. This winter was pretty harsh, plus I've been busy with law school applications and preparation. My first session back was with Anna, a past client turned friend. We decided to meet up in Kirkland on a sunny afternoon and shoot two different looks that she styled herself. I was so happy with what she put together, and I could tell effort was put into styling the outfits! The colors flowed so beautifully with the settings we worked with and the resulting images are amazing. They make me so excited for warmer weather and sun! She also brought along her two friends who were great to work with as well. We all had fun walking through Kirkland and finding pretty areas to shoot in.

Here are a few of my favorite images of Anna. Find more under +Creative Portfolio > Portrait!

Downtown Seattle High School Senior Portraits by Victoria Lemos

My second post in one day but I have a good reason for it! I'm trying to get as many completed sessions up for August before September begins in a few hours. I'm so happy with how amazing this summer was for me & my small business. I got to work with so many amazing people. I look back on this summer & realize I was able to not only branch my business more into shooting college grads, but I also had the time to shoot creatively, which is always good in order to keep a healthy balance. I'm looking forward to fall/winter and what these upcoming seasons have in store for me.

This particular session was awesome. Linh lives in Kennewick but wanted to get her senior portraits taken in the heart of Seattle, downtown. She and her family drove 4 hours to meet me near Pike, and from there, we hit three different locations: a cool building rooftop, Pike Place market, and the Great Wheel waterfront. She also brought along a wide range of outfits to play with, which gave each setting we shot in, a distinct look. Linh was giving me more creative/fashion oriented poses & I loved working with her for that! The session was quite long but we created some good stuff & she was happy with the results.

These images were shot with my new Sigma 50mm 1.4, which I am very much in love already & I'm so excited to use it even more for my upcoming shoots this fall.

PNW Trail Couple Portraits by Victoria Lemos

I'm so excited to share images from this couple session I shot last week. My little cousin Raul lives in Pasco, WA, about four hours away. He decided to drive down to Seattle with his girlfriend Genesis for his birthday one weekend and wanted to meet up with my sister and I. We don't get to see eachother often, so it was nice to catch up. I brought my camera along to take a few photos of them nearby because couple sessions are my favorite, I just haven't booked as many as I'd like! After eating breakfast in Bothell, we drove two minutes away to a playground park, walked down a hidden trail and found the most beautiful willow tree and greenery. The photos turned out even better than I expected!

If you or anyone you know are looking for fun, adventurous, romantic couple photos, please don't hesitate to contact me so we can discuss potential locations & ideas! Capturing love is beautiful, priceless, and so very worth it.

UW Campus Portraits w/ Ava by Victoria Lemos

The past few weeks have been pretty busy & stressful (LSAT studying is no joke) but I really want to get a few blog posts up before this month ends soon. I had quite a few sessions & I want to share my favorite images from each!

A few weeks ago I was thinking about finally shooting creatively again since it's been a few months. Usually, I'll just look for potential models on Instagram & reach out. I was in the process of thinking about styling ideas when I received a DM from Ava who asked if I'd be interested to shoot! I immediately knew I loved her look so after discussing styling ideas we agreed to meet at UW Seattle campus & take some portraits. At this same time, I had found a Brandy Melville account specifically made for the new Washington location. I had contacted the account manager and she linked me a few potential models I could work with for the brand. Once Ava and I met up, I realized she was wearing Brandy Melville (coincidentally) so I knew right away I wanted to send a few images to the account. Here are a few of my favorites! We ended up being featured & that to me, is pretty cool. Brandy Melville is known for only advertising using white models so I'm happy we were able to bring beautiful diversity into the mix.

Seattle Bridal Portraits by Victoria Lemos

WOW. Where do I begin?

I guess I should start by mentioning that the Volunteer Park Conservatory is one of my favorite locations in Seattle. It's the most beautiful greenhouse filled with flourishing greenery and white interior. I've shot there a few times before but always dreamed of shooting bridal/wedding portraits there one day. A few weeks ago I was able to do just that. Amy and I went to high school together, and we've been following each other on Instagram ever since. It was pretty cool when she reached out to me a few months ago and asked if I'd take her bridal photos. Of course, I was ecstatic and jumped on the idea! This was my first formal bridal session (I've shot one gorgeous, intimate wedding ceremony before) so I was really excited and immediately started to curate inspiration for poses and detail shots.

We met at the greenhouse first for formal bridal photos and then decided to take a walk through Pioneer Square for more casual shots. We had such a great time, and it was such a privilege for me to witness their love and capture this beautiful time in their life.

Congrats Amy & Shinny! Wishing you a marriage filled with more laughter, smiles, and precious moments.

City Streets w/ KiOriandra by Victoria Lemos

A few weeks backs I shot with this cool chick in Pioneer Square. We had briefly met on Instagram and I loved her look so we decided to shoot in Seattle and create some fun images. She was definitely easy to work with and I was so happy to hear how awesome I made her feel in front of the camera!

She emphasized how comfortable she felt and that made me reflect on a tip I've always held with high value: as the photographer, you want to make sure you are vocally expressing positive feedback and direction to your model because this makes an impact on his/her performance. I've had extensive practice utilizing this tip and it never fails to be true! If the model isn't receiving consistent positive affirmation, she isn't going to feel comfortable in front of the camera, and if she isn't comfortable in front of the camera, she isn't going to model great, which will result in tacky, amateur, bad photos. So this tip has definitely been one of the many that I always keep at the forefront of my photographic mind whenever I'm shooting portraits. It has worked wonders!

Prior to shooting we actually had the chance to sit down and eat together at Sprout (one of my favorite lunch spots in Seattle) and we discussed our interests and busy lives while eating deliciously made salad bowls. KiOriandra is a fellow creative and is in the process of beginning a YouTube channel and blog related to lifestyle. You can find her on Instagram @kioriandra and look out for what is to come!

Here are a few of my favorite images we captured. I played around with the editing and had so much fun with the colors. Her hair is even more gorgeous in person!

Green Lake in the Fall by Victoria Lemos

These photos were taken during the first week of October. It took me awhile to post process because of how busy school started to become, but I finally finalized the images and thought I'd share.

Green Lake Park in Seattle is such a beautiful location. I've only been a few times, which is surprising because I've lived in the Seattle area for 95% of my life. It's definitely a great spot to hang out for a few hours and get away from the chaos of the city. The park itself is huge, filled with beautiful park bench lake views, tall whimsical trees, and people of all ages rollerblading, biking, and walking along the trails.

This fall I didn't have as much time to explore beautiful transforming Washington nature as I wanted to (capturing fall colors is something I look forward to every year when it comes to photography) but I was able to stop by the park and these are a few of my favorite captures. The post processing is a bit different in terms of style but I like the Polaroid feel. It was also a day dedicated to testing out my new wide angle lens: the Canon 16-35mm. 2.8. This lens has been a top priority of mine for a good year now and I'm so happy to finally have it be a part of my growing collection. It's definitely a lens I plan on taking with me on adventures for breathtaking landscape views.

These next set of photos were processed with more natural tones and realistic colors of green and blue.

Photography Collab. - Linh (@thelittlerabbit) by Victoria Lemos

Awhile back I finally met someone in real life for the very first time. Linh and I had only known each other online. I followed her on Instagram because of her creative eye and we talked a few times through the app trading feedback on each other's work and discussing the possibility of working together sometime.

After a few months (probably closer to half a year) we finally made it happen. I took a bus to Pioneer Square and we spent half a weekday walking through the city, talking about our love for photography, discovering new photoshoot spots, and taking photographs of each other (of course). It was SO. MUCH. FUN. It's the most enjoyable time when you hang out with somebody who has such a strong passion for the same things you do. Linh was such a sweet person altogether; we definitely plan on meeting up again soon.

I was so happy with the photographs I took of her, she definitely has a versatile look because every cool spot we came across I had to get a shot. This last one was completely unplanned too, we were on the rooftop of her apartment complex, I took in the beautiful views and yelled, "Linh, quick! Can I get a shot of you here?" She was so cool to work with.

These next shots are the ones Linh took. I was completely blown away when I viewed them for the first time. She made me feel like a model, which is definitely something I'm not used to. Check her out on Instagram @thelittlerabbit!

Picture Lake by Victoria Lemos

First blogged outing of the summer! Besides my trip to Mexico I haven't really adventured much other than city drives to Seattle but recently Tyler, Nicole, and I took a trip to Picture Lake, which is known for it's picturesque breathtaking view of Mt. Baker. It's located a bit passed Bellingham, so about a 2 hour drive. The best part about this specific destination is that there is no hike required. We literally drove up until we parked alongside the lake and walked a few feet to the boardwalk.

Because I knew we'd be in for such an amazing view Tyler and I had Nicole dress up for is in order to model for a few portraits. I had brought a pair of retro looking sunglasses from Urban Outfitters and my film camera, which added the perfect touch. Tyler even took a few portraits of myself (I was liking my outfit that day and realized how 70's I looked especially with my film camera around my neck)!

Ansel Adams inspired?

Credits to @tylerburch for the posing and prop suggestion! I'm in love with this shot. Looks more editorial to me than anything else. The tones and colors flow so beautifully.

My turrrrnnn...

A bit blurry but I really don't mind. Thanks @tylerburch!
