UPDATE: I still run a blog! by Victoria Lemos

Okay, let’s see. The last blog post I published was on May 14, 2018. It’s been nearly 5 whole months since I’ve published a blog post. Almost half a year. That is completely unacceptable!

Let me explain (not that anybody really cares, but I’m telling you because it’s so fun to scroll through my Archive sometimes and just read back on some of my previous posts).

Spring of this year was big for me. It was when I realized I had gotten accepted into law school. It’s funny how typing it out is really no big deal but the entire process behind what it actually entailed and what followed, is insane. I still don’t understand what has happened, but I’m in law school, I’m doing it, and it’s been happening since June. I opted for the Summer Start option and took Criminal Law during the summer so my Fall class load would be lighter. I thank myself every day now for making that choice.

I really don’t know if I should go into the details, maybe another time. For now, just know that law school has been a challenge since the very start, but as the weeks flew by I was able to figure out a booking schedule that worked for me. I have barely had time for anything outside of studying but actual shooting so my blog was abandoned and it’s been way too long.

Instead of driving myself insane uploading each and every session I’ve done since my May 14th blogged shoot, I will just pick up from where I currently stand and showcase one of my favorite shoots I’ve worked on in a while. Stay tuned for that in my next post!

Pioneer Square Portrait Session by Victoria Lemos

Not too long ago I worked with Ashlee, an aspiring singer who has just started a YouTube channel for her singing videos. She wanted photos for social media use and even opted to get her makeup done by my sister and fellow freelancer, Nicole (@nicioleandrea_mua on Instagram).

I wanted to capture her personality, and Pioneer Square was the perfect location for bringing character to the images. We started shooting at a local coffee shop and then began walking through the streets and alleyways. The portraits came out beautiful, and I was pleased with her choice of outfits too. It was supposed to rain the entire day, but thankfully we shot during a window in between light showers. The gloom provided the most gorgeous, natural lighting. Nicole did a great job with her makeup too, which worked to enhance Ashlee's natural beauty.

Here are a few of my favorite portraits! Check out Ashlee on her YouTube channel (Ashlee Tarro) and follow Nicole on Instagram @nicoleandrea_mua!

Northwest University College Grad Portraits by Victoria Lemos

Wow, I'm a bit sad typing this blog post because the person I shot photos of became such close friends with my sister and our family as a whole. I'm so thankful though that Alyssa chose me to capture this special milestone. It's definitely an accomplishment, and although she's on her way back home to California, she has a lot to look forward to (including graduate school)!

For her graduate pictures, Alyssa wanted the Seattle city skyline incorporated somehow, so we chose the perfect boardwalk near Alki Beach, and the results are amazing! We shot during weekday morning hours, so the area was practically empty. I'm so happy with how they turned out. The red dress she styled herself in turned out to be the perfect pop of color too.

Congrats Alyssa! You will be missed, but we are proud of your accomplishments! You go girl.

Creative Collab. - Nicole Andrea MUA by Victoria Lemos

This blog post is being published way overdue, but I need to get it up before the month ends! A few weeks ago I worked with my cousin and sister to create these fun portraits using a backdrop and natural light in my driveway. My sister loves doing makeup and recently went freelance, so she is now booking appointments for makeup sessions. We thought it'd be great for us to work together, so we had our cousin over, Nicole did her makeup, and then we took photos!

For the styling, we wanted something chic yet simple. I used a white backdrop and played with my edits in Lightroom to create a more vintage look. I absolutely love how all of the photos turned out!

Check out Nicole here for more of her work!

Kirkland Fashion Blog Portraits by Victoria Lemos

I'm trying to branch out more into the blogger world when it comes to my photography services so I took to Instagram (as always!) and searched, searched, searched, until I came across this cool girl who I thought would be perfect to collaborate with. I loved her trendy style & she seemed like such a nice person. After a few messages back & forth, Nancy & I decided to meet up in Kirkland & take pictures! These we had planned to be a mixture of blogger/fashion portraits & more creative portraits as well.

I had such a fun time. We got some amazing images & I've been practicing more with back button focus, which has been a complete game changer for me! The focus on all of these images is tack sharp (a lot I had to trash because I'm still getting the hang of lower aperture - I usually shoot at 2.8 or 2.5 but for these, I went all the way down to 1.6 on my Sigma 50 Art!).

All in all, we had an amazing time. The images are by far some of my favorites ever, the outfits she styled were perfect, & it was great meeting & befriending another fellow local creative. Take a sneak peek at some of my favorite images from the shoot here & make sure to check Nancy out over at her blog

Pioneer Square High School Senior Portraits by Victoria Lemos

It's finally November which can only mean one thing - the beginning of slow season & time off to focus on other life-related things (LSAT - PLEASE PRAY FOR ME & relaxation during the holidays)! September/October was definitely my busiest set of months yet, and it's primarily due to all of my senior sessions that had to get done before high school yearbook deadlines. Audrey wrapped up my busy season in the best way possible by booking her shoot in downtown Seattle during a sunny weekend.

We met up in Pioneer Square and immediately realized we had scheduled our shoot on GAME DAY. The Seahawks were playing here at home & the game had just ended. Thankfully they won, so the crowds of people we had to maneuver our way through were happy (for the most part) & we had (close to) no problems! Nothing I couldn't handle.

All in all, Audrey and I had a great time shooting together. She was so sweet to work with & we were able to achieve a comfortable & seamless experience despite the crowds of football fans we encountered.

Thank you, Audrey, for being my last 2018 high school senior to work with! I'm so looking forward to next year & what's to come for Victoria Lemos Photography.

Congrats to the class of 2018!

Washington Park Arboretum High School Senior Portraits by Victoria Lemos

This is my sixth blog post this month, and I think my most jam-packed month since my business began! I'm so blessed & thankful! I started out this year with a few fashion blogger session, senior sessions, and maternity/family here and there and now I'm shooting senior sessions more than ever before. I've loved every single one so far, and I'm not just saying that! As I type this, I'm looking forward to two more shoots scheduled for tomorrow!

Blogging has been great because I've been able to use my Archive (button off to the right) and see how far I've come since last year & even the year before that. I'm happy I've stayed consistent with posting too because in a year I'll be able to look back on these sessions as well!

On Friday I had the most amazing time shooting with Lucy at the Washington Park Arboretum. Fall is definitely here, and I'm completely in love. I couldn't have been more excited about this location - I've shot here a few times during the summer season but only once in the fall so I was looking forward to capturing COLOR & we sure did. Lucy wore the cutest red dress that flowed beautifully with the background colors & foliage. We chose to shoot during golden hour as well so the sunlight was PERFECT.

Congrats Lucy! And to all the high school seniors I've been so blessed to work with so far!

Nature Park High School Senior Portraits by Victoria Lemos

This session was a super quick one, but we managed to capture some pretty photos! Amane had contacted me last minute to see if I had any availability for a quick session and thankfully I did on Monday afternoon. Monday was the only day of sun for the week's forecast, so we booked it right away and decided to meet up at a local playground since it was going to be a quick session.

I've shot a few times at this park and am familiar with the beautiful green foliage so I knew it'd be perfect for what she was looking for. It's never packed with people either. I love how the images turned out and am glad we were able to make it happen. Congrats Amane!

UW Seattle Campus Portraits by Victoria Lemos

Another portrait session with Jennifer & this time we shot on the UW campus. I love this location because every time I'm here, I find new areas to shoot in. So much variety! This time we walked through the campus & looked for beautiful architecture and greenery that would complement her outfit looks.

Jennifer has become a very regular client of mine for the past few months & we are planning on working together more until the end of October. I'm so thankful for the connections I've made through my photography. Social media serves as a huge help; I don't know what I would do without Facebook, Instagram, and my website, but I also know that it's because of my unique talent that people want to work with me and will continue to do so.

I've been photographing for around six years now, and it's taken me a very long time to get to where I am today. Comparison always has (and sometimes continues) to be something that I struggle with as a content creator because photography is common; even more so in Seattle & online. I always remind myself though that people appreciate my work for a reason. It's entirely created by me only, and no one else has taken a specific image or can take the image exactly as I do.

I love what I do, and I'm even more in love that I'm able to connect with others & build relationships with people that I'd never been able to meet if it weren't for my photography. I thank God for this gift & I plan on learning more, growing more, and shooting way more until I no longer can.

In-Home Portrait Session by Victoria Lemos

In-home sessions have always been on my photography bucket list. There's something so sweet & special about capturing people in the space they call home. It's been a more popular setting for couple photography lately because the couple finds themselves to be most comfortable so the images come out to be very intimate, personable, and magical.

I'm so happy Jennifer had requested an in-home session for casual portraits in her apartment. Although these were solo portraits, the lighting and personable aspects of the images we captured were just as beautiful. Her living room area was flooded with the best lighting coming in from large windows so no additional lighting equipment was needed. All I used was my Canon 6D, my Sigma 50mm 1.4, and my Canon 35mm 1.4 for a wider angle to capture more in a smaller space.
