Family Beach Session / by Victoria Lemos

A few weekends ago I had the privilege of photographing a beautiful family at Edmonds beach. It was either Mukilteo or Edmonds that we had discussed for locations but we figured Edmonds would be less packed. It was my first time shooting at Edmonds beach so I was looking forward to how the photos would turn out. Here are a few of my favorites and the rest you can view under +Services > Family.

Here I captured mom with her three kids. We were at the beach around 3pm and I knew I would end up shooting with backlit lighting, which turned out to look nice in my opinion. Elizabeth (mom) coordinated everyone's outfits perfectly for a beach setting and the blues against hues of brown wood and green grass looked absolutely beautiful together.

Here is a shot with the whole family included. I used my 35mm lens for this shoot which was perfect because I needed a wider angle to fit everyone nicely within the frame. I also captured the boats in the background from time to time which adds an even more beach-y feel to the set.

Elizabeth wanted a few single shots of herself, which I had so much fun with. It was cool to be able to switch from group photo to single and I love how this one turned out. I'm definitely heading back to the beach ASAP to take creative portraits after having such a great time shooting this session.

A full body stand-up shot. I underestimated the position of the sun... Typically I am pretty unsure of backlit portraits but the lighting was so even during this session. The blue water in the background ties everything together and I love how light and soft the tones and colors are.

A couple shot of the newlyweds in the family. They were so cute to work with. I'm looking forward to shooting more families and couples - the loving interactions are what make the photograph so much more beautiful and meaningful.
